Abbazia di Santa Maria in Elce - Cairano

The Church of S. Maria in Elce, of which only a few dilapidated ruins remain, and which has been in this state since the beginning of the 20th century, takes its name from the holm oak trees (formerly called elici), the name of the oak more commonly known as "Leccio".
