Dating back to the Middle Ages, the village was founded between the 8th and 9th centuries, developing near the fortress built by the Lombards, of which today only some portions of the surrounding walls and the cylindrical tower remain, at a height of 600 meters, overlooking the valley below, and then extending downwards, where the new urban center currently stands. Life and time, in this small historical fragment, stopped at 7:34 pm on that tragic November 23, 1980, the date of the devastating seismic event that also severely damaged Senerchia, tearing it apart with deep signs that are still evident today in the cracks of the old town and well imprinted in the memories of those who lived through those tragic moments.
