The castle was built in the Lombard era, probably already in the 7th-8th century, as evidenced by the canonization of San Barbato, Bishop of Benevento, which coincided with the process of conversion of the Lombards to Christianity, and by the presence, inside the manor, of a chapel dedicated to the Archangel Michael, to whom the invaders were particularly devoted.
