It has a Romanesque style with Arab-Norman influences. The current layout of the church dates back to the 17th century. Inside, with three naves, there is a marble altar incorporated between two porphyry columns and a Christian sarcophagus from the 4th-5th century AD with a Latin inscription which recalls a Prenestina and her husband Vero. Of notable importance are the two 17th-century canvases, of Neapolitan origin, depicting the Madonna of the souls in purgatory and the Madonna of the Rosary with the Dominican Saints. On the ceiling are paintings by Nicola Gaglione depicting the Crucifixion of Saint Peter and the Healing of the Cripple (1964). Before Christianity, the community was devoted to the cult of the Archangel Michael, who was preached with religious fervor and strong temper, such a cult testified by the presence of a rock church, was an exhortation to repress the evil.
