The "Il Parco" farm complex, also known as "Casale Lo Parco", is located in the locality of the same name, located in the municipal area of Frigento.
Built in the eighteenth century and immersed in a hilly agricultural area of high landscape value, the complex falls within the typology of rural architecture typical of Irpinia and which spread above all in the period between the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries. These rural settlements, quite frequent in the area, constitute real autonomous communities, probably modeled on the memory of the early medieval curtis, equipped with a small church for divine offices, a manor house and farmhouses for the massari.
The prominent element of the entire farm complex is represented by the dovecote tower, the result of the changes that took place over the course of time and linked in particular to the feudal regimes, which made use of pigeon farms for various purposes, such as agriculture and , in particular, the fertilization of the land. In addition to the dovecote tower, characteristic elements are the access staircase to the manor house, the loggia, the small tower with clock and, above all, the graceful chapel dedicated to Saints Ciriaco, Donato and Gaetano.
Although the bad weather has caused a progressive deterioration of the characterizing structures over the years, the "Il Parco" farm complex represents one of the most significant examples of an eighteenth-century rustic house preserved in the countryside of the Ufita Valley. read less
