History
The Institute of the Conservatory of the Sisters of Purity was founded in 1660 by an ancestor of the Laurenzano family, the noblewoman Delia who later became a nun and first abbess. The noblewoman donated her palace in via Belli to the Conservatory of maidens, a cash bequest and another building. With the contribution of many wealthy families, the convent was built in 1743 and housed poor girls who were taught the trade of seamstress.
