The buildings, dating back to the 18th-19th century and equipped with beautiful portals worked in local stone, have regained their original splendor, thanks to the post-earthquake restoration work of 1980. They are concentrated along the route that starts from Via Roma and reaches Vico San Pietro, passing through the square where the former Cathedral of Frigento stands and contributing to enriching the cultural and artistic depth of the Irpinia town.
Among the most important buildings are: Palazzo Capobianco, Palazzo Filippone, Palazzo Pelosi, Palazzo Flammia, Palazzo Grella-Calò and, above all, the suggestive Palazzo Testa-Cipriano, considered one of the most beautiful stately structures in the whole country. Its elegant external architectural lines introduce the wonderful internal courtyard, paved with squared blocks with a cistern well and a staircase in local stone. The entrance portal and the side doors are surmounted by small wrought iron balconies and decorative elements which contribute to affirming the sumptuousness and beauty of this Palace.
A clear sign of the influence of the noble class on the local community, the noble palaces of Frigento are revived today in all their splendour. read less
