The Sanctuary of the Madonna del Buon Consiglio is a place of worship located in Frigento, in the Piano della Croce area, on the slopes of the homonymous plateau. Center of a heartfelt Marian devotion, the building was built in the early twentieth century, in the place where a local farmer found a majolica depicting the Virgin Mary holding the Child Jesus in her arms in the act of pressing him to her heart and on her face, while He places His hand on His Mother's breast and with the other He tightens Her neck. In the years immediately following its creation, graces and wonders occurred through the intercession of the Blessed Virgin, which helped to strengthen her devotion. The Sanctuary became a destination for pilgrims from all over Irpinia (and beyond) starting from 1970, when the Franciscan Friars of the Immaculate, a religious institute founded in the same year by Father Stefano Maria, settled inside the adjoining convent. Its structure has a single nave and is characterized, along the side walls, by the placement of precious frescoes representing scenes from the Gospels. Even the vault and the ceiling are decorated with two beautiful paintings which give greater splendor and charm to one of the most significant places of worship in the Ufita Valley.
