The best is harvested in the Municipalities of Taurasi".[2] In 1929, F. Madaluni reports an extension of the vineyards equal to 63,000 hectares, of which 2,000 in specialized cultivation. In 1934, A. Iannaccone in the "Vini dell'Avellinese": «it appears evident that the wine industry represents an agricultural activity of very great importance from which the economic prosperity of numerous towns in the province is reflected» But phylloxera also arrives in this area to such an extent that in 1970, the Viticultural Cadastre records only 1,800 hectares of associated vineyards and just 4.8 hectares of specialized ones.
